Walking is a perfect exercise for BEST practitioners because it promotes bodily awareness and it offers endless opportunities to combine the complex motion of walking with use of the senses.
For the sake of the brain, Ilchi Lee encourage you to keep your walks varied and to try to engage the senses fully as you walk. The most obvious way to do this is to vary your routes and to find unique places to walk. But more importantly, you should challenge your mind to discover new sights, sounds, and smells every time you walk, even if you are walking in a familiar place. It is easy for our brains to get in the rut of always noticing and thinking about the same things as we walk. So make a concerted effort to notice things you never noticed before and to engage your senses in new ways.
Among the various operations that go on in the body, breathing is the one that affects the brain the most. It’s because the brain must have oxygen in order to work. The brain takes up only two percent of the entire body; however it uses the most energy among the other parts ot the body since it governs all human living activities, such as breathing, the heartbeat, exercising, and thoughts.
The brain consumes fifteen percent of the blood that pumps out of the heart, and even when it is resting without am activity, it consumes about twenty-five percent of the oxygen that comes in through breathing. Therefore in order to supply plenty of oxygen to the brain, one’s blood circulation should be smooth. If the blood is not supplied to the brain for just fifteen seconds, the person will become unconscious, and in four minutes, the brain cells will be damaged to the point that they cannot be revived.

But this sort of defeatist attitude did not settle well with me. After all, it is in complete contradiction to everything I have taught my students over the past twenty-six years. “My body is not me, but mine,” I tell them to tell themselves. Somehow, though, I had let my body start to call the shots. I had never told my body, “Okay, you are old now. It’s time to start walking like an old man.” Yet, somehow it happened anyway. Basically, it happened because I let it happen. It was time to put myself in the driver’s seat once again.
With this realization, I resolved not only to heal my body from the accident, but to reform the habits I had developed. I began paving close attention to the angles and posture of my body as I walked. I decided that I was one to decide how and when to grow old, and it didn’t have to happen in the ways people normally assume.
Ilchi Lee closely observed how my body felt in different positions as I carefully made one step at a time. I was like a baby learning to walk. I also observed how people around me walked. I noticed that the young and the old usually have distinct ways of walking. When I asked students to make slight changes in the way they walked, their bodies’ alignment improved dramatically. By tilting forward slightly and pressing on the ball of the foot, practitioners were able to correct problems in the knee, hip joint, and pelvis.
So, I decided the best way to start feeling young again was to start walking youthfully. I was forced to resume a full lecture tour schedule shortly after the accident. The pain in my spine was still quite intense, but I made a concerted effort to apply the walking and posture principles I had developed. Applying what I had learned through the years, I deliberately shifted my posture to accommodate better energy flow. After about five months, this wav of walking became a habit in my life.

A great deal of tension can be held in the face, and it often becomes habitual. Try this and vou will find it very hard not to smile.
Squeeze all your face muscles; close your eves, nose, and mouth tightly. Hold for about 5 counts.
Open your eyes, nostrils, and mouth as wide as you can.
Breathe in, and as you return vour face to normal, exhale. © Repeat this sequence at least 3 times.
LYING VIBRATION
Have you ever seen a little kid lie down on the floor and flail his arms and legs when upset? We don’t recommend this as a way of dealing with your boss, but it does make energetic sense. Use it to shake loose your emotions.
Lie comfortably on the floor.
Lift your arms and legs into the air and begin to shake them lightly.
Counting slowly to 10, shake harder and harder until you reach the count of 10. O Drop you arms and legs gently to the floor. Breathe deeply and relax.

I woke up with a diarrhea and hot and chill within me 2 nights ago. I had not much to eat yesterday for lost of appetite. I went to an intensive Brain Wave Vibration Training–Dahn Ho last evening. During the training, the hot and cold energy were fighting within my body that created a huge headache. When I got home, my body temperature was 101 degree. I took 2 Tylenol, 2 glasses of water and a wet towel on my forehead, then, I went to sleep. When I woke up this morning, I went to work and filled with energy. I had stomach flu! Before I practice Dahn Brain Wave Vibration, it would last me 4-6 days to recover plus a doctor visit and antibiotic. After I practice Brain Wave Vibration, it last only 24 hours. Brain Wave Vibration will help you to discover your hidden healing power within your brain stem. Please practice with sincere mind and daily. Good health to me and you. (Aug 27, 2008)

I really like the Brain Wave Vibration. Vibration is bringing out our body rhythm–Chun-Ji-Ki-Um (the cosmic energy) which is the natural healing power in our bodies. I had learned the vibration from the Brain Respiration workshop. According to Dahn Yoga, It starts the vibration from the 1st chakra and travel up along the spinal cord. It takes some time for the vibration to go up. Chun-Ji-Ki-Um is working on its own in different part of my body. Since I use the Brain Wave vibration, Chun-Ji-Ki-Um filled my body and connected my mind and whole body as one. It also takes much lesser time before. The Brain Wave Vibration is a powerful self healing method. Thank you Grand Master Ilchi Lee developed this new tool for us to achieve our optimal health. Thank you Dahn Yoga masters provide all the patient and compassion teaching us how to heal ourselves.

The brain wave vibration exercise is so simple and I feel so good during and after it. I feel very relaxed and calm. Tonight I did the brain wave vibration followed by dahn mu and I felt as though there was no need to move — cosmic energy was just flowing through and around me and was me. It is a very healing experience. Before I did the exercise my neck was tense and hurting and now it feels normal

From The Principle of Brain Wave Vibration–by Ilchi Lee
The human brain produces electrical waves through constant activity, and those waves are brain waves. We have a traditional method of JungChoong, Kijang, Shinmyeong to restore brain waves to normal waves. But there is much easier method. It is far more direct and effecive, and involves creating resonance between your brain waves and normal waves, which is called Brain Wave Vibration.
We have very pure bio-energy, called Chunjikiun. If you vibrate your brain waves with this Chunjikiun, your entire brain produces normal brain waves.
It’s very easy for your thoughts, emotions, and life phenomena to become separated in your everyday life. You may experience this as though you are “falling apart.” But when the neo-cortex, limbic system, and brain stem all resonate as one through the very pure waves of Chunjikiun, you can experience brain integration. When your brain is integrated, instead of using just 5% of your brain potentia, you can use the other 95% as well. That means your Brain Operating System, or BOS, is activate. I have defined three Laws of BOS as follow:
First, if you choose it, it happens.
Second, good news makes a good brain.
Third, wake up and pay attention.

It has been almost a year since I joined Dahn Yoga and I was just remembering some of my first impressions. I joined on a Tuesday and came that Friday night to class. I had no idea that Friday’s class would be any different that the one I took on Tuesday. Therfore, I was a bit put off when we all closed our eyes and started tapping and moving. I remember standing there thinking, “I paid for this?”, “What is this supposed to be doing for me?”. I found it an odd class and I was very unsure about the experience. Being someone who believes you should always give things a second chance, I tried it again the following Friday. And the following. And the following. Vibration class soon became the class that I looked forward to the most. Where else could you go and shake off all of the stresses of the week and not worry about anything? No one was watching you or judging you. You could get as crazy as you’d like and have fun doing it. It was like being a kid again, when you jump around and act silly and don’t care what people think.
I will always recommend Vibration class for new members and old. We wind ourselves up so tightly throughout the week, that we need an hour to just let it all go and be a kid again.
